A world renowned tantric scholar, Prof. Vrajvallabh Dwivedi was born on July 30, 1926 in Shahpur in Rajasthan. He successfully obtained his Acharya degree from State Sanskrit University, Varanasi, and his Sahitya Ratna degree from Hindi Sahitya Sammelan Prayag. He passed his M.A. in Sanskrit in 1957 from Agra University securing first division. From the years 1944 to 1948, he edited the manuscripts at the famous Hastalekha Samgrahalaya Sarasvati Bhavan from where he also obtained training in research methodology in Sanskrit literature.. From the year 1951 to 1967, he successfully edited the tri-rnonthly research journal ‘Saraswati Sushma’ put up by the State Sanskrit University and Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. While serving the university in his capacity as the Publication In-charge, he oversaw the publication of a series of books covering a variety of topics. From the year 1967 to 1978 he served as a lecturer in the Yoga Tantra Department under the guidance of his own master, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Gopinath Kaviraj. In 1978, he was appointed Professor as well as Head of Samkhya-yoga-tantragama Department of this University. the Central Government, at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies until the year 2003. Ever since then, he has been giving his valued service to the World Sanskrit Community in his capacity as the Honorary Director of Shaivbharati Research Institute located at Jangambadi Math, Varanasi. Under his guidance, a series of fifty texts have been published from this Institute. He has also undertaken numerous study tours to various places within the entire country. In 1987, he represented his country, India, in the World Sanskrit Conference held in Holland. During the same trip abroad, he paid visits to several European countries and gave a special lecture at the Oxford University.
